Fine wines are aged in oak casks, crafted in a cooperage. Fine oak woods are gathered from France and the U.S., milled, shaped and strapped with metal stays into casks of various sizes, then "toasted" to cure the wood and impart the desired overtones to the wine during the aging process. The quality of the casks directly influences the character of the wine, and fine barrels are highly prized.
This tradition of craftsmanship has inspired the homes of Cooperage. A pleasing mix of architectural styles—Craftsman, Prairie and Monterey—replicates the neighborhoods of the Arts and Crafts era.
